The works on display explore health conditions that commonly affect older adults — brought to life through stop-motion animation, a hands-on technique that uses physical objects and photography to create the illusion of movement. The result is a series of thoughtful artworks that approach serious health topics in a visually engaging and accessible way.
The project grew out of a collaboration between Christine Adame's ART 3153 Animation course and Dr. Aaron Loeb's NURS 4612: Aging Family course. Nursing students shared their research directly with the artists, providing medical insight that shaped and inspired the final works. This partnership reflects Dr. Loeb's ongoing commitment to exploring the creative possibilities at the intersection of art and health sciences.
With support from the TWU Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) Fellowship, student artists took an active role in bringing this work to the wider community — researching local venues and audiences to find the right home for the exhibition. They found it at Thrive, a Lewisville recreation center dedicated to community wellness and healthy living.
The exhibition runs February 27 through March 7, 2026, with a free public closing reception on March 7, from 3:00–5:00 p.m.
All are welcome to attend!
