• To honor excellence in the study of the Spanish language and in the knowledge of the literature, culture, and history of Spanish-speaking peoples. • To encourage a deeper understanding of the Hispanic world and its global contributions. • To foster friendship and respect among Spanish speakers and non-Spanish speakers. • To promote cross-cultural dialogue and appreciation of diversity. • To serve communities where knowledge of the Spanish language and culture can make a positive impact. • In short: Sigma Delta Pi exists to recognize academic achievement in Spanish and to promote the rich cultural heritage of the Spanish-speaking world through scholarship, service, and community.
