Student Regent Application Open

TWU is currently accepting applications for the 2026-2027 student regent. The deadline to apply is December 2025.

Applicants must complete two applications, starting with the TWU application found in myTWU. Qualified applicants who are selected to advance will then complete and the Governor’s application.

After applications have been reviewed, campus interviews will begin in  mid-January. Then in late-January SGA will send recommendations to the Chancellor. By mid-February, two or more recommended applicants will be selected by the Chancellor and sent to the Governor. On or before June 1, the Governor appoints the TWU student regent for a one-year term that expires the following May

Applicants can be from any campus and at any stage of their educational journey. At the time of application and throughout the term of appointment, the student regent must:

  • Be and remain enrolled at the institution throughout the term as student regent
  • Be in "good standing"
  • Be enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student
  • Maintain a 2.5 GPA
  • Commit to fulfill minimum time commitments
  • Have a strong desire to represent all university students

Student regents have a unique opportunity to influence university policy, advocate for student needs, and contribute to the future of TWU. Students interested in making a lasting impact at Texas Woman’s should consider applying. See the Student Regent website for additional details.

Apply to be a Legislative Intern

The application deadline for the Spring 2026 Legislative Internship is on October 12. Apply on Handshake (#10170988) to be considered for the opportunity to intern at the federal level in Washington D.C. Open to current TWU students from any major!

Open to all majors who have an interest in the legislative and political process at the federal and state level, the position of intern is an exciting experience. Interns will be exposed to internal legislative discussions and debate and will experience first-hand just how rewarding and fun it is to participate directly in democratic processes.

Scholarship funding and placement assistance for congressional legislative internship opportunities in Washington, DC are offered for the spring, summer, and fall semesters.

Legislative internship scholarships in Austin are offered for the spring of odd numbered years to coincide with Texas’s biennial legislative session. See the Center for Women in Goverment site for more details!
