PTE's Second Annual Turkey TrOT 5K

Lace up your shoes and join TWU’s Denton Pi Theta Epsilon chapter for the Second Annual Turkey TrOT 5K, on Saturday, Nov. 8, a community-driven event dedicated to raising funds in support of occupational therapy research. Whether you’re a seasoned runner, casual jogger, or walking with friends and family, this 5K and 1.5-mile course offers an inclusive and inspiring way to get moving for a great cause.

The course will take participants through TWU Denton’s campus, a scenic, family-friendly route, with water and cheering sections along the way. After crossing the finish line, stick around to enjoy a vibrant vendor fair featuring local businesses, health and wellness resources, and sponsor booths offering giveaways, refreshments, and activities.

All proceeds from the event directly benefit the St. Catherine’s Challenge, a nationwide initiative supporting the future of occupational therapy by funding innovative research, advancing evidence-based practice, and empowering the next generation of therapists.

Whether you run, walk, or cheer from the sidelines, your participation helps strengthen the impact of occupational therapy across communities.

Do you have any former cheerleading, gymnastics, acrobatics, or tumbling experience? TWU STUNT wants you! They are actively recruiting FLYERS for THIS 2025-2026 season.

If you have any applicable experience and are interested, please reach out to LJones61@twu.edu and fill out the questionnaire below. This could be your chance to take your skills to the next level — and even earn an athletic scholarship!

"Long Story Short Award" Writing Contest

Short Édition invites all students, staff, and faculty members to participate in the Long Story Short Award 2025! This contest celebrates the art of concise storytelling, challenging writers to create powerful narratives that captivate readers in just a few words. Whether you're an experienced author or exploring creative writing for the first time, this is your opportunity to demonstrate that brevity and brilliance go hand in hand.
 

Prizes:

• Jury's Winner: $550 USD
• Jury's Coup de cœur: $400 USD
• Public Winner: $550 USD

The competition is open to everyone in our community. Submit your short story and compete for the Long Story Short Award before the deadline on November 2.

Don't miss Our Town at Redbud Theater with weekend shows Oct. 17-19. While you may have read "Our Town" in high school, this production seeks to return to what Thorton Wilder envisioned. Minimalist scenery. Bentwood chairs. Instead of A-frame ladders, they’re using reinforced scaffolding which doubles as different settings. It's sure to be a riveting performance! Tickets are $5 for TWU students and pay-what-you-can for the 2 p.m. performance on Saturday!

College of Business Survey

TWU's COB Marketing students are conducting a short survey for their marketing research class to learn how business students feel about student organizations within the college. If you're interested, please take 3-5 minutes to tcomplete their short survey using the link below. 

Student Regent Application Open

TWU is currently accepting applications for the 2026-2027 student regent. The deadline to apply is December 2025.

Applicants must complete two applications, starting with the TWU application found in myTWU. Qualified applicants who are selected to advance will then complete and the Governor’s application. 

After applications have been reviewed, campus interviews will begin in  mid-January. Then in late-January SGA will send recommendations to the Chancellor. By mid-February, two or more recommended applicants will be selected by the Chancellor and sent to the Governor. On or before June 1, the Governor appoints the TWU student regent for a one-year term that expires the following May

Applicants can be from any campus and at any stage of their educational journey. At the time of application and throughout the term of appointment, the student regent must:

• Be and remain enrolled at the institution throughout the term as student regent 
• Be in "good standing"
• Be enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student
• Maintain a 2.5 GPA
• Commit to fulfill minimum time commitments
• Have a strong desire to represent all university students
